Recent Happenings: Home study, concerns, and Yard Sale reminder

Well this past Tuesday we had our home study. It was scheduled for 4 hours but it only took 3 which was quite nice. The lady who did our home study was awesome. She was more of an advocate for us than anything. Amazingly, she said she will have the home study report back to us for a review by the end of this week. In case you’re wondering, that’s FAST!!!

We have had some concerning things pop up though. We were initially told that it would take 1-1.5 years before placement. We listened to a conference call a couple nights ago and was told that it would be 3-4 years. Yeah that’s a big difference. We know that God is sovereign and we’ll have our two babies when the time is right but we still struggle with the fact that it could take so long. We are hoping to reconcile the large difference in time soon with our counselor.

We also learned that our country requires a psych evaluation. Though Tori is a little looney (I love you baby), well me too, the evaluation does not bother us. It’s the thought of something else that we have to pay for. Again, I’m sure it will work out but just another thing to add to the list.

We have begun plowing through the grant applications. They are indeed a lot of work. Many require extensive writing, but we are sure the work will pay off. We will be submitting about 10 application so pray that our need will be evident.

We are heading into the final week of yard sale prep. (Click here to know more about the yard sale) We have been gathering goods that many have so kindly donated. Have you donated yours? Have you told your  friends about it? We still need some stuff. Would you be willing to donate some things? The tiring part is pricing all the things. Well, it’s theoretically tiring. We haven’t started but are just overwhelmed by all the stuff that we need to price. We hope to get a lot of it done this weekend.

If you are baking for us, please let us know what you’re bringing and the quantity so that we’ll be prepared for it.

Lastly, Thank You! We have been amazed at the willingness of everyone to see to it that our Colombian orphans find their way home to us. Thanks so much for your donations, help, and prayer. God has blessed us with you in this journey and we are extremely grateful for it!

  1. Jeremy & Tori,

Glad you guys are moving along in the process. We expected our homestudy to be someone with white gloves combing our house for everything. surprisingly it was fairly easy for us as well.

I hope the grants do work out for you. Melissa and I wrapped a lot of hope into ours and were really disappointed. We thought support-based Christian workers would be a compelling story to get behind and support an adoption process. Unfortunately we were rejected on everyone of them. We did all our stuff before the Summit put a big focus on adoption though, so you may have that working for you.

We will continue to pray for you and struggle with you in this journey. May God be glorified and His will be done.
