Puzzling Progress

Just wanted to fill you in on the progress so far. We have almost gotten all the info in to our agency so that we can schedule a home study. We are still awaiting a couple of documents but should have those in the next couple of days. We are so excited and anxious to be able to get to the next step just so we can wait some more!

Many people have asked how much this will cost. Well, it will cost about the same amount as a new, tricked-out mini-van. It will cost us around $35k. And no we don’t have that kind of money. We are wholeheartedly trusting God to provide and see us through this. We believe that scripture demonstrates that adoption is something close to the heart of God so we know that we’ll get the money somehow. To date, we have drained our savings to begin the process. We have spent about $3,800 to get us to this point and that’s about all we can spend for now. The next step will require us pay about another $5,000. So we are waiting, hoping and praying for God to provide.

Through this we would love to include you in the process. We believe that it takes a village to adopt a child (rather than a village to raise a child, which is also true in many ways). We want to provide a way for you to join us in the process. We want you to experience this amazing journey with us.

So this is what we have decided to do. When we bring our two Colombian children home, we are going to have family photos done, which is going to be awesome. One of these photos we are going to design into a picture puzzle. A thousand piece picture puzzle! So needless to say this puzzle will be lots of fun for our kids to put together and see. In the end, we will frame it in a double-sided frame and place it in prominent place in our home. Why the double-sided frame?

Well, here is where you come in. Because we want you to join us in this journey. We are going to provide a way for you to be able to make a donation for each piece of the puzzle. For each piece that you purchase, we’ll write your name on the back of that piece. After we have put the puzzle together we will frame it in a double-sided frame so that the picture and the names can be read. Looking at this puzzle 20 years down the road will be such an amazing experience. We’ll look and read aloud all the names who God used to bring our children to us. What am I talking about? Looking at it 6 months after we have given two orphans a home will be mind-boggling!

Each piece of the puzzle costs $10. I know some of you can only afford to purchase one. But I know there are some of you who want to buy 100 pieces for $1,000.  The goal is to sell 1000 pieces totaling $10,000 by the end of November. That’s right $10,000 in 2 months. We will be attempting to raise $30,000 but first, this small step.

To do this there is a PayPal button at the top (don’t worry…PayPal is safe) where you can enter in amounts that are divisible by $10. If you don’t have a PayPal account (PayPal accepts credit and debit cards too) and would like to send us a check just let me know!

We know we are about to humbled by your willingness to help us bring our Colombian orphans home. Thank you so much in advance!

Tori we think its wonderful to know what you and your husband are doing. Paige and I have been blessed by two wonderful children and now three grand children. I am sure there will be some bumps along the way buy the children will make it all seem like a smooth ride. Just watching them and feeling their hugs will bring you both closer to the Father in Heaven. I will put the link to this blog on several of my websites and I am sure others will help in your goal. As you know I am retired and not rich so I can’t buy a hundred pieces of the puzzle but Paige and I talked it over and we will help with $50.00 now and maybe more in the future.

    • John and Paige,
Thanks so much for the encouragement. We are humbled by your willingness to help us reach our goal. Also, Thanks so much for being willing to pass this info along to others. Any help is much appreciated!
